This is a 2nd model. Early gun in just under 3500 serial number and has correct thumbprint dust cover. Factory Letter states configuration and set trigger. Set trigger is not working at this time. Aging original blue on the barrel with some rub marks. Overall metal is smooth with good markings. 1876 ladder sight and standard German silver front sight. Inside is a shiny bore with decent rifling and some light roughness. Overall bore condition would be in the VG range. Crisp action. Receiver still exhibits some original blue in the protected areas with more on the left side. The balance has a pleasing antique grey color. Strong traces of case color remain on the hammer and lever. Nice wood that fits and looks good. Comes with Winchester Letter. Interesting gun as this was one of 660 that were originally chambered in 45-75 WCF and then changed at the factory to 45-60 WCF. The first 45-60 was shipped June 20th 1879. This rifle was shipped July of 1880. Winchester sales of this caliber were favorable and beyond their expectations so they changed existing guns to keep up with the demand.
