Engraved EURO Antique Threaded Barrel Boot Pistol
Original Combination Bullet Mold Barrel Wrench
Here we present an antique European Percussion Boot Pistol, made circa 1840. This type of pistol was very popular in 19th Century Europe, as well as the colonies. It could be stowed in the top of a boot, the belt, waistband or even a large pocket. It was of course, made primarily for self-defense, and very well would tell stories if it could.
This example is nicely engraved. The smooth bore barrel twists off, making loading a much easier task than jamming a ball down the muzzle. This allowed the shooter to use a larger diameter ball, creating a better gas seal for more efficiency from a small gun.
The overall condition is very good. The engraving is sharp and clear. The grip is worn but solid. The initial placard has been lost over time. The bore is deeply rifled and in good condition. The action is strong. The accompanying bullet mold/barrel wrench combination is original and a very scarce accouterment.
