Description:
For sale, a late World War 2 manufactured Springfield M1 Garand that is all correct.  This rifle is serial number 3841675, has the original barrel in it that is dated 6/45, and has not been refinished.  It was made too late to have seen much use in WW2, but it appears to have seen a lot of action in the Korean War.  The original parkerized finish has a nice patina to it that shows wear in places that you would expect for a combat used rifle.  The bore is bright and in excellent condition.  The rifling is still strong, and it gauged a 3.7 at the throat and a 1.5 at the muzzle so it has a lot of life left in it.  The original walnut stock is solid but shows a lot of use.  There are scratches, gouges, and scuffs on the stock, along with bullet point dents from seating the bullets in the en-bloc clips by banging them on the side of the stock prior to loading them into the rifle.  This is common on combat used M1 Garands.   You can still make out the original inspector's cartouche, a boxed SA over NFR (Springfield Armory & Norman F. Ramsey).  The butt of the stock has also been painted with stenciled unit/division markings.  It is painted "S1 42ST B CO"  This Garand comes with a nice original leather M1907 sling that is in good shape.  You can just barely still make out the maker's logo, Chicago Belting Co., but the inpectors initials "HE" appear much clearer.  If you have been looking for a World War 2 production all-correct M1 Garand that has been used in combat, this Springfield would be an excellent choice.  It could still be shot today and as long as it is properly cared for, it will continue to appreciate in value.
