Description:
Seymour Griffin 7X57 Oberndorf Mauser Action (1906), Harry M Pope 25" barrel dated Oct. 1920, with a 1- 9.66 inch twist.  Paul Jaeger first model single lever side mount with a Zeiss Zielklein 2 1/2 X scope with pointed post and cross hair reticle. This rifle and sidemount are mentioned and pictured in Michael Petrov's book, "Custom Gunmakers of the Twentieth Century, Volume II", pages 111-113.  Lyman #35 receiver sight with a sheard #11 gold bead front sight.  Very nice 3X Circassian walnut stock with a schnabel fore end.  Checkered buffalo horn butt plate and scalloped grip cap.  Engraved screws.  Gun was completed in 1921 for Major Sloan, a WWI Veteran, who worked briefly for Griffin and Howe when they were started in 1923.  Rifle has seen very light use and is in excellent condition throughout with a spotless bore that has sharp rifling from breach to muzzle. Barrel banded front swivel mount 14" length of pull.
