PHILADELPHIA PRESENTATION REMINGTON-WHITMORE MODEL 1874 GRADE 4 DOUBLE 10 GA. HAMMER SHOTGUN CA. 1870’S. 28” Damascus barrels with center rib engraved “E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y.”. Factory floral engraved frame and locks and mounts. Walnut straight grip checkered stock and forend. Steel butt plate. Left side of stock with Remington Factory oval silver presentation plaque engraved “DAVID HANLEY STONE/TO/B. FRANK BONHAM”. Stone was a Philadelphia, Pa. lawyer and Magistrate and Stone a Philadelphia Selectman. The circumstances are unknown. Very good overall with metal a deep patina but very crisp engraving and nice untouched look about it. Working order and good original hammers with no repairs. Bores dark with moderate pitting. Scarce and reasonably priced.
