Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Here we have an absolute beauty of a World War 2 production Remington Model 11 Riot Gun in minty, possibly unfired 100% original condition. During WW2 Remington produced under government contract the semi auto Model 11 in both standard configurations for gunnery training and recreational use, and a riot gun configuration for combat duty. All of the WW2 Remington Model 11s were made during a 3 year period within 2 serial number ranges. The U.S. Military contract Model 11 Riot guns were plain guns with unadorned walnut stocks and a "military" blue finish. The "military finish" blue was simply an elimination of the last polishing step before using the standard blue finish, resulting in a grainy duller appearance than the factory commercial gloss blue finish. The receiver was stamped "U.S." with an ordnance bomb, and "Military Finish". The bolts were left bright and stamped "Model 11". The barrels were just a hair under 20 inches in length and were stamped with the Remington date code, the choke "CYL", and "U.S." and the flaming ordnance bomb. The American Walnut stock set was given an oil finish and a brown plastic butt plate embossed with the Remington name, and after being inspected and accepted by the U.S. Military they were often stamped with the U.S. crossed cannons cartouche and "FJA" for the inspector Frank J. Atwood. This particular Model 11 Riot Gun is in like-new, minty condition. The blue finish rates 99% and the stock set shows no signs of wear. The bore is bright and minty, and the bolt face shows no signs of having been fired since test firing at the factory. All of the factory markings are crisp and the U.S. inspector's cartouche is nicely stamped into the butt stock. This shotgun is serial number 492577, and the barrel date code is "KMM" which means it was made in May of 1943. It was never rebuilt and refinished with parkerizing at a U.S. arsenal like many you may encounter. All of the serial numbers match (bottom of barrel behind magazine ring and under the tang on the stock). Everything works 100% like it did when it left the factory. It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this example in condition or originality. This WW2 Remington Model 11 Riot Gun would be an excellent addition to any military collection, and has proven to be an excellent investment as well as they continue to appreciate in value.
