Description:

FINE Weimar German Ortgies .25 ACP Pocket Pistol

Post-WWI, Pre-WWII CCW 6.35mm Handgun

Here we present a Deutsche Werke Ortgies .25 ACP (6.35mm Browning) Pocket Pistol, made circa 1920. Heinrich Ortgies was the designer and he began production in post-World War I Erfurt, Germany in 1919. When he died in that same year, Deutsche Werke took over production until 1924. For a very short period of production, there were many produced. These were popular on the commercial market in Germany, and they were exported as well. They were still in use as of WWII. As a result, U.S. G.I.s brought many back during and just after World War II.

This pistol features stylized medallions in the grips, the design of which is a sphinx-like creature in the shape of a “D” for Deutsche Werke. The grips are also marked “GERMANY”. The “Crown/N” is a German commercial proof mark. The chamber of the barrel is marked with caliber and commercial proof.

The overall condition is fine. The original blue finish is 95%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The original wood grips are near fine, with just a small amount of wear. The bore is shiny and clean. The action is strong.

This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.

Barrel is 2-3/4 inches in length.

Caliber: .25 ACP (6.35mm Browning)

The bore is in fine condition and the action is strong.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Here is a fine example of an inter-war pistol.
