One of the finest American made shotguns, the Model 1883 Colt was consistently a custom order item. Just over 7,000 were manufactured in a 12 year period, but due to their high cost, they were discontinued in 1895. "Every gun made was of the excellence promised in the promotional literature", to quote R.L. Wilson. Among the distinguished users of the Model 1883 was former U.S. President Grover Cleveland. This gun was one of the first, serial number 113, made in the first year of production, 1883. It is in excellent original condition, with near perfect bores and fine burl walnut stocks. The 30 inch barrels still show much of their tight damascus pattern. This is a beautiful, classic antique shotgun, still in shooting condition with the proper ammunition.
