SCARCE Example of a Third Reich Police Pistol
Here we present a J.P. Sauer & Sons 38H Police Marked Pistol with Holster, made circa 1943. The Model 38 was introduced in 1938 with the “H” designating it as a “hammerless” action. It was made up until the end of World War II, when Germany was finally defeated and the factory closed down. One of the very modern and neat features of this pistol is the cocking and de-cocking lever on the left side of the frame. Yes, you can either use the double action to pull the trigger or push down the lever to put this gun into single action mode.
This example is marked with an “Eagle/F”, a Nazi German Police acceptance marking. This was one of the last variants of this weapon that saw its safety lever deleted from the design for speed and ease of manufacture as those things became paramount. The holster is marked “OTTO SINDEL/BERLIN/1943” on the front and “347” on the back. The condition of the holster is fine.
The overall condition of this specimen is excellent. The original blue finish is 98%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The magazine is unnumbered. The original grips bear a clear Sauer monogram and sharp checkering. The bore is clean and shiny. The action is excellent.
