Description:
This is a US Model 1916 rifle cover with an extremely late issue date of 1942. The Model 1916 cover was replaced with the Model 1918 cover during WWI. While both models saw service during and after WWI; it is very uncommon to see the earlier version of the rifle cover with so late a date. Clearly stamped “RM CO./1942" on the canvas. The flap is leather with fairly heavy crackling and crazing and scuffing to the leather itself. The canvas has some light soiling but tight stitching throughout and will make a fine addition to your collection.
