Description:
Serial #130326, .30-40 U.S., 30” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome rifle that has retained 80-85% of the original blue along the barrel with an even, plum-brown patina on the balance. The magazine door has a mottled gray-brown patina at with specks of freckling scattered about the edges, and the bolt has moderate plum-brown freckling on the original armory bright finish, darker on the handle, and faint traces of the original bright fire blue remains on the extractor. The rifle is equipped with a Model 1902 rear sight that has a matching smooth brown patina. The walnut stock and handguard are in fine condition and have several minor handling marks and small blemishes marring the original oil finish, as well as a still crisp “JSA/1898” cartouche on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has a lightly mottled patina, and a small metal oiler is present in the stock compartment. This is an excellent example of a late model U.S. Krag-Jorgensen and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
