Description:
NSN, .30 Caliber, 6 1/8” part octagon barrel with a fair, lightly pitted bore. This pistol is marked “ASHTONS” on one of the barrel flats, and was made by Peter and William Ashton of Middletown, CT. The metal has an overall dark brown patina with some heavier pitting around the nipple. The brass frame is likewise tarnished to a dull yellow-ochre patina, and the walnut grips are in fine shape with only minor handling marks scattered about on either side. The mechanism is functional, however the sear notch is worn and doesn't retain the hammer for very long. These are interesting pistols, and this example is in about very good condition. Antique
