Description:
Serial #A183, .577/.450, 33” barrel with a very good bore that has some dark freckling within the grooves. This is an 1887 dated, “VR” cyphered, Enfield-made rifle that has an overall dark, plum-brown patina blending with the original blue finish on the metal. There is some silvering at the muzzle with some further mild gray fading along the exposed edges and surfaces. There are extensive British military proofs on the breech with further Nepali markings on the trigger guard. The walnut forend and buttstock are also in very good condition with an armory re-applied military oil finish over numerous small handling marks and blemishes. The right side of the butt has extensive British and Nepali markings along with fairly crisp cartouches. The rifle is very good mechanically, and still has the original ramrod. Additionally, the rifle comes with an original Nepali military leather sling installed which is in near excellent condition, with very little crazing or flaking, and a crisp Nepali stamp along the exterior. This is a very nice, British made, Nepalese “Long Tang” Martini that is complete and in very good plus condition overall. Antique
