Description:
Up for sale today is a US Remington M1903 serial no. 3318925 chambered in caliber .30-06. This excellent original WWII-era rifle is within the serial number range of the final M1903 rifles made by Remington before the transition to the production of M1903-A3s. As such, this rifle shows the beginning stages of Remington shifting tooling around to produce ’03-A3s. The bridge at the rear of the receiver shows the beginning of the dimensional changes to accommodate the A3’s rear sight, and this difference is what earns the rifle the moniker “Modified.” The finish on this example is excellent and original, and it shows an excellent bore and a barrel date of “RA 12-42.” The rifle is in a scant-C M1903 stock, which is a rare stock indeed. An excellent piece of history and a great addition to any collection.
