Description:
This rifle was a pretty powerful gun for its day, 38-55 would have taken down most anything you run in to. Today it comands a place in our history for where it might have been. The barrel is a nice even brown patina with very small freckles, the magazine tube is the same. The frame has very minor freckles but the patina is not as even. slightly mottled looking, dont know why. The upper and lower tang have some descent pitting but this is an old gun. The buttplate also has some pitting. The bore is very good for a black powder era gun, fairly shiny with some good rifling left. I wouldnt hesitate to hunt with this gun but the little blacktails in my area hardly need even this much power. Call me if your interested I dont comunicate much on the computer. (916)652-4867 Ed
