Sharps New Model 1859 Civil War Carbine 52 Caliber 16-68
 
Sharps New Model 1859 Civil War Carbine 52 Caliber. Iron furniture .22” bbl., 39” overall length.
Marking near breech: New Model 1859, markings on bbl. Sharps Manufacture Co. /Harford, Conn. Markings left side of receiver: C. Sharps Pat. Sept 12 1848. : C. Sharps’ Pat. /Oct. 5, 1852, right side of lock: R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859. Metal markings on lock are readable. Walnut stock with oil finish.
 
Condition: Barrel and barrel bands have some corrosion bbl. and sight is brown-plum; Frame has some corrosion. Wood has very feint cartouche under the saddle ring slide, some dents slivers and dings. Etc. Bore is dirty and has corrosion in the bore or chamber probably 50% rifling. Works fine mechanically. Is good condition overall; original sharps civil war carbine.
