Description:

A Mune mitsu Gendaito signed: Mishimani Mai Oite Moriya Mune Mitsu Koreo Tsukuru. Date: Showa Ju Ku Nen Roku Gatsu Hi. This blade was forged by Mune Mitsu in June of 1944 in Shimane Province. It is 65.6cm or 25 13/16” long. It is ubu with 1 hole in the military mounts. Mune Mitsu is listed in Hawley’s on page 526 (Mun 234). He was relicensed after the war in 1954. He is listed in the Nihonto Meikan on page 452. , Gendaito Meikan on page 103, and Toko Taikan on page 630. Despite some pitting the hamon and hada are clearly visible.
