Savage, lever action TAKEDOWN rifle, Model 99 (B?), standard, caliber .303 Savage, s/n 299567 (Mfg. 1927), ONE OF THIRTY SAVAGES RECENTLY RELEASED FROM A PRIVATE 99 COLLECTION, NEVER GUN SHOWED AROUND,
RECEIVER: TAKEDOWN, internal rotary magazine, brass cartridge counter and magazine follower, loaded cocking indicator on top tang, safety by lever, top tang factory drilled and tapped for tangent sight, retains most of somewhat thinning reblue, exhibits some light scratches on sides, lever retains most of original case coloring (very nice), lever boss code "M",
BARREL: length 24”, BORE EXCELLENT, open rear elevator flip sight adjustable for elevation and windage, long integral ramp front sight with Ivory bead blade, retains original blue in 98% condition,
STOCK: Walnut, STRAIGHT GRIP, plain, factory 13 L.O.P. over steel crescent buttplate retaining excellent finish, Schnabel forearm, TAKEDOWN RELEASE ON CENTER BOTTOM OF FOREARM, buttstock and forearm appear to have been very lightly sanded, stained, and oiled some time ago, 98% condition, nice job,
