The S&W Model 39 series of pistols was the company's first endevor to manufacture a double action (first shot) semi automatic pistol. It has been a huge success and many other models have followed based on the 39 platform. The 39-2 has the improved extractor which proved to be more reliable than its predecessor. The serial number on this example is in the 156xxx range which dates it in the second year of 39-2 production, 1972. Overall the condition is excellent with 98% original finish with minimal handling marks, perfect bore, and excellent checkered walnut grips. This was America's first double action 9mm pistol, and it comes with an extra original magazine. Sorry, no box or paper-work.
