Description:
Inv. 6352
Stompenrud, (Nazi Conversion) Krag Jorgensen Mdl 1894, Cal. 6.5X 55mm. Ser. 10XX

I really thought I had heard it all, so this was a new one on me. According to the Norwegian war records after the surrender of Norway in World War II, the Nazi occupation forces placed an order with the Kongsberg Arsenal for 13,450 Krag Jorgensen Model 1894s. Fortunately for a variety of reasons, sabotage, poor workmanship, and materials only 3,350-3,800 were ever delivered.

During the war the model was altered substantially to appear more like the German Gew 98-K. The barrel was shortened by 6" and the stock by 7". A new hooded front sight and a K-98 bayonet lug was added. Towards the end most of the carbine style guns were made of mismatched parts left over from earlier production.

This particular Stompenrud has a matching bolt and receiver, only the barrel bands are mismatched.

The balance of the gun is in outstanding condition. It retains about 98% of the original factory finish. The little loss there is due to some very slight sharp edge silvering and some mild toning to the bolt handle.

The receiver is stamped 10XX, NC, Crown/N, 1944, Eagle/WaA84, Eagle/Swastika and Eagle/WaA84.

The stock has about 90% of the original lacquer. There are just a few light surface scratches but no dents, chips or splits.

The bore does show some light wear but there is plenty of sharp distinct rifling with just a hint of scattered frost.

There were at best less than 4000 guns produced. It is a guess, but I feel confident that there are probably less a few hundred available today. Taking into consideration those that were destroyed in the war or afterwards and those that are stored away or in collections. If you want something really unique to brag about that the other guys don't have here's your chance......$3495.
