Description:
Browning Olympian Grade 243 Caliber 22" barrell ... 43 1/2" LOA ... 13 3/4" LOP over 1/4" plate ... 1 3/4" DAH ... 1 1/2" DAC ... 7lbs 2oz empty weight ... Trigger is a very crisp 3lbs 5oz with zero creep.
The 22" barrel has a bright, excellent bore. The barrel retains 98% bright blue finish with just a hint of fading at the muzzle and has two inch wedges of acanthus leaf engraving on both sides of the breech. The remaining metal surfaces are done in a French gray and are extensively engraved with game scenes and fine shaded acanthus leaf scroll.
There is running antelope on the left front receiver ring, a feeding buck on the right, a mountain lion on the magazine floorplate, and a chamois on the triggerguard all surrounded by the aforementioned acanthus leaf scroll engraving. In addition, the bolt and bolt handle are polished bright and the long extractor is jeweled. The action is signed M Magis and the floorplate is signed Legiers, both FN engravers.
The nicely figured Monte Carlo pistolgrip stock with right hand cheekpiece rates about excellent displaying a few faint handling marks and some light chipping at the back of the Monte Carlo comb and toe over a strong glossy finish showing some age checking around the gripcap and across the buttstock. Splendid foliate carving enhances the grip and forend around very fine checkering and stippling all within radiused borders. A rosewood forend tip and gripcap are present, the gripcap having an inlayed gold diamond, and a Browning buttplate is installed.
A lovely and rare rifle built in 1964. This well before the salt problems began in 1966. We guarantee this rifle to be salt free.
