Description:
This is a nice "BROWN MANUFACTURING COMPANY " Deluxe Sporting Rifle with the "RARE", "Checkered Grip Extractor" , which is found only on early production Brown Rifles. Less than 50 believed to be in existence! This This rifle takes .44"Extra Long" CF cartridges. 16 cartridges are included. THis has the "Deluxe" wood on the the Forearm and Buttstock. Beautiful figure in wood! Looks to have had one professional repair to the toe. Very Well Done! Has a 28" octagon barrel and the bore and action are excellent . Barrel metal is all brown patina. Shows some scale/pitting on outside of barrel. Serial Number is #20365 and Is marked on top of the frame and on top of ths barrel. Frame is marked on left hand side, "BROWN MFG. CO. NEWBURYPORT MASS./BALLARD'D PATENT /NOV. 5, 1861". It is hard to read, but it is all there. Has a small rear dovetail ladder sight and it lays down to use a sight notch. Has a dovetail, with brass blade, front sight. The hammer and protected areas of the falling block still show some Case Color. The original plated finish on the frame is still mostly still intact. Plated finish on lever , forearm nose cap and buttplate show small amount of finish remaining. Buyer pays $45.00 shipping to lowe 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders and Bank Cashier's Check.
