Description:
Springfield Model 1884 trapdoor carbine. .45-70 Caliber. 22" barrel  with a very good bore. Blued steel turning grey to brown patina.  Military half stock with low comb. Brass blade front sight "Buffington" rear sight.  Lock plate marked with the American Eagle motif an, "US/SPRINGFIELD" in front of the hammer.  Front of breechblock stamped "US/MODEL/1884". Rear of barrel "V" and "P" proofed. Sling ring and bar on left side opposite the lock plate. Curved metal butt plate marked "US" on top tang.  Pivoting trap door for cleaning supplies (empty) Two piece trigger guard. Serrated trigger. Single Barrel Band. Inspector's Cartouche on bottom of stock at wrist behind trigger guard. Condition is very good Only a small portion of original finish remains on metal components. Spotty discoloration with patchy patina. Light scratches and tooling marks. bore is very good. Stock shows numerous small scratches, scrapes and dents.
