Description:
Colt 1871-72 Open Top Revolver in .44 RF. This was Colt's very first production cartridge revolver. Early 5k serial range. Correct 7-1/2" bbl. Excellent cylinder scene still visible. Orig wood grips are in very near excellent condition. Some wear on the left hand side that looks like it may have slid around in a drawer. All matching numbers including the wedge. These are hard to find without having been shortened. Most all were cut off at some point. Smooth clean nice patina overall. Nice original open top. Very rare as only 7000 were made between 1871 - 1872. This is the pre single action army. These are quite desirable.
