John Dickson Round Action Triggerplate, circa 1891, 12 bore, 2 3/4" chambers, 28" invisibly sleeved barrels done in London in 1991 and reproved at 850 BAR for 2 3/4" chambers, choked .005 Skt. and .018 Mod., original rib engraved "John Dickson & Son, 63 Princes Street, Edinburgh", 6 lbs. 10 oz., 14 3/4" LOP over leather pad, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 1/4" DAH, neutral cast, very finely detailed full coverage English scroll engraving with "John Dickson & Son, Patent" in a banner on sides of action, straight grip, splinter forend, double triggers, original ejector model showing two screws on side of action and which acts to assist opening, more scarce teardrop shaped gold cocking indicators along side of toplever instead of more common round ones behind the toplever, gold oval in stock with a single initial "O", nicely figured walnut, originally no. 2 of a pair and engraved "2" on toplever, rib, and water table, forend has a gold "2" inlaid into center of wood, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold, early scallop checkering border at grip, patent use number "289" making it the 289th round action made, excellent condition and without issue, comes in a period leather trunk case with a replacement maker's label. A very nice example of a round action from the transition period.
