Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: For sale, a beautiful Smith's Patent Carbine manufactured for and used in the American Civil War. The Smith Carbine was primarily used by Union Calvary units in the war but saw service with both sides as carbines were captured or surrendered during the course of the hostilities. This carbine has 100% original finishes. The original blue and case colored finish rates a conservative 85%. The original stock set is also in excellent condition with a nice crisp cartouche. The bore is a bit of a mystery. It appears to have been reamed out from the chamber forward to shoot bird shot or buckshot. The chamber is still the proper dimensions but there is no longer any rifling in the bore. The exterior and mechanical condition of this carbine however is excellent. Everything works 100% just like the day it left the factory. This piece would display very well and would be an excellent addition to any Civil War carbine collection.
