This special order rifle was made in 1918. It features a 24 inch barrel, half-length magazine, hard rubber shotgun butt plate, and Redfield Receiver Peep Sight. The Model 1886 was the first repeating design worked on by John Moses Browning and his brother Matthew. The goal was to replace the 1876 as Winchester’s big game rifle offering, and it was very successful in doing so. The barrel legend reads “MANUFACTUED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.”. The chamber is marked “33 W.C.F.” with Winchester proof marks. The left rear part of the barrel is marked “NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER”. The receiver tang reads “MODEL 1886/WINCHESTER” with patent information below. The hard rubber butt plate is marked “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.” The takedown lever is also marked with patent dates. The overall condition of this rifle is very fine. The original blue finish is about 90%. Takedown Model 1886s also came with blued receivers, instead of being casehardened like standard variants. The markings are all clear and legible. The walnut stock is very nicely figured and oil stained. The bore is sharply rifled, clean and shiny. The action is strong. There are not many signs that this rifle was used to any great extent, making it prime for those who want to collect for condition. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches in length. Caliber: 33 W.C.F. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3000 #10415 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
