Heiser, Denver, Antique Holster Model #918 purchased from renown sporting goods retailer Von Lengerke & Antoinne Chicago in the early 1900s by a Chicago police detective. V.L & A, 1891-1938, built their sporting goods business and reputation by only carrying the very finest products. In terms of firearm holsters, the quality choice was H.H. Heiser of Denver CO. In the early 1900s H.H. Heiser was arguably regarded as the premier leather crafter of the time. Here is one of their holsters 100 years later in good working condition. The holster strap carries the Von Lengerke & Antoinne retail logo, "V.L. & A. CHICAGO", so it might have been a special private label order. The metal holster snap carries the H.H. Heiser logo circled by the words "HEISER DENVER". The lower back of this leather holster has the H.H. Heiser logo with the words "HEISER DENVER" running through it. Below it is the number 918, which I assume is a model number. This H.H. Heiser holster was owned by a Chicago police detective who purchased it from V.L. & A. on Wabash Avenue. The detective holstered a five shot, top-break revolver. The Chicago detective eventually retired from the force and kept the H.H. Heiser holster afterward. The retailer that sold it, V.L. & A., lost favor with the Chicago public as a result of selling firearms to Al Capone gang members. They sold two of the Colt Thompson Machine Guns used in the 1929 St. Valentine's Day Massacre. They sold out to Abecrombe Fitch in the 1930s. A functioning historic holster with an intriguing story. The condition of this H.H. Heiser leather holster is appropriate to its 100 year old age, see pictures. I have worn the holster a few times to test it out, and it works fine, comfortable and. light. Overall, a functioning and very historic holster with a very intriguing story. Thank you for your consideration and offers for purchase.
