Description:
During WWII the German Army's lone semi-automatic battle rifle was the G43/K43 rifle. An improved version of its predecessor the G41, the G43/K43 was a gas piston operated, semi-automatic, full size rifle that fired the 8mm Mauser cartridge from a detachable 10-round magazine. This was a considerable upgrade in firepower for the typical German soldier, who usually carried a bolt action K98 rifle. When production began in 1943 it was called a G43, for Gewehr 1943. In April of 1944 it was renamed the K43, for Karabiner 1943 but the rifle itself was unchanged in design. They were produced from October of 1943 to the end of the war in 1945 by DUV/QVE (Berlin Lubecker), AC (Walther), and BCD (Wilhelm Gustloff-Werke). This example is a Walther made 1944 rifle in excellent original condition and is a scarce variation called a "Milled Panel", in which a flat was milled into the receiver to stamp the maker code, date, and model. These were only made for a short time. The original finish rates 95% and is a mixture of blued and phosphated parts. All numbers match on the serial numbered parts. The white glue laminate stock is also in excellent condition with nice legible waffenamts. This AC44 K43 rifle is a vet bringback and is 100% original and complete except for the missing front sight hood. It would be difficult to upgrade from this example.
