Description:
Winchester Model 1894 SRC .30 W.C.F. The first thing you are going to notice is the old cloth backed electrical tape wrapped around the grip of the butt-stock, where hiding underneath are at least five cracks that are visible without removing the tape. We're going to leave it as is. There is a 1/16" of play between the stock and the receiver tangs. The second thing you are going to notice is the chewed up butt-stock, as it has its share of gouges, scrapes, scratches and dings, besides the forementioned grip cracks. This saddle ring carbine, less the ring, sports a 20 inch barrel, full-length magazine tube, two barrel bands, one near the muzzle, the other around the forend wood and barrel. The barrel is adorned with original time-period front and rear sights, a post with blade front sight and an adjustable carbine rear sight, which lifts up with graduations for long rang shooting. The barrel and magazine tube has some good blue remaining. The receiver has hints of blue, specifically at the rear of lever assembly, trigger, hammer, screw behinid saddle ring stud and the loading gate. The most surprising thing about this rifle is the bore, which is actually in very good plus condition with strong lands and grooves with lots of good shine from chamber to muzzle. Rifle weighs 6 1/4 Lbs. Serial Number: 896191. Manufactured in 1919. The story goes, the rifle belonged to an old Idaho Basque sheepherder (sorry, that’s all we have on the previous/original owner).
