Description:
Cal 45-75. Factory Letter on this gun states that it is a carbine 45-75 and "changed to sling and swivel rifle butt". Interesting gun. There are only 10 carbines that letter with Slings & Swivels and 4 carbines that letter with rifle buttplates. The sling swivels are intact. Sights include a folding ladder 1876 marked rear sight and correct front sight. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. A few minor pits. Bbl markings are good. Crisp tight action. Original dust cover and correct saddle ring. Wood shows normal handling with an unusual "NWMP" stamp on the side of the buttstock. The Mounted Police carbines were marked and this is marked in a similar way. I guess I don't know what to make of it. Wood fits nice to metal. Metal has turned a plum/brown patina. Very minor traces of blue in sheltered areas. A nice clean original gun that is quite interesting.
