Description: This original - 45-70 Trapdoor - Springfield rifle has a round tapered 1" to 11/16" x 31" barrel with an adjustable Buffington rear sight. The bore has scattered light pitting. The P grade Walnut stock is mounted with iron furniture, including sling swivels. The trapdoor breech block is dated US Model 1878. Stamped on the lock plate is US Springfield and the spread eagle. Length of pull is 13-1/4", overall length is 52”, weight is 9 lbs. Please Note: The stock has been cracked and repaired from the rear of the lock plate, extending around the top of the wrist. The letter S has been stipple-carved in the right side of the butt stock. Does not have the correct rod for the rifle. Good wood to metal fit - made by Springfield Armory. Condition: Good.
