Description:

SCARCE French MUTZIG M-1829/61 Artillery Musketoon

Scarce Percussion Conversion from Flintlock

Here we present an antique Model 1829 Artillery Musketoon, made at the Mutzig arsenal in France. It was then converted to percussion circa 1861. This short, handy and large-bore musketoon would have been at home in the hands of an artilleryman and possibly even cavalry. It features a .70 caliber rifled bore, and a barrel length of 23-5/8 inches. The lock is marked “Mre. Impale. de Mutzig”. The barrel tang is marked “Mle. 1829”. The right side of the barrel is marked “M. 1861” and “MI”.

The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are a bit weathered and have a brown patina. The markings in the metal are clear and legible. The stock is solid. The bore is rifled and in good condition. The action is strong.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 23-5/8 inches in length.

Caliber: .70
