German Model 1871/84 Rifle, made by SPANDAU, serial # 8242, cal. 11mm , 31 1/2 barrel with a very good bright bore, this 1887 dated rifle with receiver graying and a good amount of original blue on the barrel, matching numbered bolt is still somewhat bright along the body, handle and cocking-piece, walnut stock is in very good condition with the cartouches and stamps still crisp and clear and exhibits scattered small handling marks and minor blemishes under its military oil finish, the butt plate has some minor surface oxidation, rifle is unit marked on the upper buttplate G.S.R. / 226.. This rifle is matching except for the forward band and two trigger screws that are on its receiver under the wood. Overall this is a good plus plus - very good example of a Mauser 71/84 and would make a nice addition to any Military Collection. Inv.: # 22-176
