Description:
This .72 caliber Original - Military - Musket has a tapered octagon to round 1-3/16" to 13/16" x 41" smooth bore barrel that is fitted with a fixed rear sight on the tang, a brass blade front sight and a bayonet lug. Stamped on the left flat is 1825 and a faint undetermined proof mark. The bore is dark and has some pitting but is in shooting condition. The P grade Select Hardwood stock is fitted with brass furniture, including the metal ramrod, iron butt plate and rear sling swivel. The front sling swivel stud is present but the sling swivel is missing. Stamped at the rear tip of the off side panel is an undetermined inspectors cartouche. Another undetermined inspector's stamp is seen on the comb of the butt plate. Each of the 3 barrel bands have the numbers 32 stamped on the bottom, numbers 13 on the right side and W2 stamped on the top of the front band. Stamped on the rear finial of the trigger guard is the number 32. A letter P is stamped on the metal ramrod. The large military flint lock is activated by a single trigger. Length of pull is 13", overall length is 57”, and weight is 9.8 lbs. Good wood to metal fit - made in Europe. Condition: Good.
