Description:
Blake and Beeley 16 Gauge Side-by-Side
30” BARRELS, EJECTORS, MODERN PROOF, 6LBS, ENGLISH GRIP, NICE!

General Specs: Blake & Beeley, Year 1896-1925, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 2oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 1521

Blake and Beeley was a marketing company of quality shooting accessories and guns in Mansfield, England.  This fine upland gun, sn1521 built prior to 1925, is in excellent condition and perfect mechanical order.  Built on the venerable Anson & Deeley boxlock ejector action, this gun has been very well maintained, as the ejectors are strong and well timed, the barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, the bores are excellent, and there are no cracks or repairs to the wood.  The graceful 30” nitro steel barrels are in proof, with recent proof marks indicating the gun was reproofed sometime after 1989, 2 ½” chambers, choked perfectly for hunting upland birds over pointing dogs or in the thick stuff at SK/LM, no dents or dings, a minimum barrel wall thickness a very healthy 35 thousandths as the thinnest spot anywhere, a really nice set of barrels.  The nicely figured English walnut stock has great stock dimensions with 14 ¾” LOP to a checkered butt, excellent checkering with a mullered border, forend has ebony tip, all in excellent condition.  This gun shoulders and swings like you would expect from a fine English gun, weighing 6lbs. 2oz. and balanced just forward of the hinge pin.  These British made boxlock ejector guns are the very best value for a fine shooting gun in the market place, with exceptional workmanship and handling characteristics, hand engraved, perfect wood to metal fit, really gorgeous wood, all at a very affordable price.  Thanks for looking.
