Description:
This is an original, Commercial, Colt Government Model manufactured in 1914. This gun was immediately shipped to England and has British proofs on the barrel, slide, and frame. Between May of 1912 and April of 1918, approximately 17,500 pistols were shipped to England. If they have a "C" prefix serial number, thay are .45 ACP. If the prefix is a "W", they are chambered for .455 Webley. After WWI, many of these were surplused back to the United States. This pistol is a "C" prefix, .45 ACP gun. The pistol is in very good to fine condition. It retains about 65-70% of its factory blued finish. The wear is a little heavier on the right side of the pistol than on the left side. The grip straps show more wear as well. The pistol has excellent mechanics and a very good bore. The original walnut grips are complete with no chips or cracks. There are a few small dents in the checkering, particularly on the left grip panel. One original, two-tone magazine is included. This is a very nice, early production Government Model.
