Description:
This is an extremely nice MS Model 1956 with the MC buttstock, chambered in 30-06. This was an interesting find. An elderly gentleman bought it in the late 1950s, early 1960s, to hunt Deer with his pals. Shortly afterwards, he said they all started marrying off and moving away. and he hasn't hunted since. He told me the rifle, and another FN Mauser Sporter, have sat in his safe for the last 50 years!
The rifle speaks to this time period, with a Lyman All-American 4X scope mounted in a Griffin & Howe sidemount. The rifle also wears a leather sling with the brass hooks typical of that time.
This rifle has the rotary magazine and butterknife bolt handle, as well as the optional double-set triggers.
The rifle has one dink in the underside of the forend, but is in otherwise outstanding shape for a 60+ rifle. I'm sure the rifle is worth more than I have it listed, but the gentleman just wanted to cash out, and priced it accordingly. The scope is a bit cloudy but still functional...I didn't want to break up the set.
