Description:
This 1867 vintage, Colt 1860 Army, Civilian Model, is in the 166,000 serial range, and is in excellent original condition. It retains much of its original color case-hardened finish on the frame, loading lever, and hammer and the 8 inch barrel retains 85% of its original bright blue finish. The trigger guard retains traces of original silver plating concentrated in the protected areas, with an aged patina on the brass, and the back-strap retains 60% of its original blue finish, and since this is a Civilian Model it is not cut for a shoulder stock. The cylinder retains 30% of its original blue finish, with most finish lost to flaking. The cylinder scene is very good and the action is tight and sound. All serial numbers match, including those on the wedge and arbor. The walnut grips retain most all of their original finish, with assorted handling marks, and showing little signs of wear. The 3-screw frame is clearly marked with the "COLTS PATENT" stamp on the left side and the top of the barrel is stamped "-ADDRESS COL, SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, but there are a couple areas of spotting. Overall, this is a great example of the rare Civilian Model of the 1860 Colt Army revolver.
