Description:
***   SOLD   ***   A magnificent Westley Richards sidelock ejector pigeon gun made in 1965 with 2-3/4” chambers and cased in a Brady tan canvas & leather case with full accessories. Extensively engraved on the frame, sidelocks, forearm iron, pistol grip cap and breech end of the barrels. Tons of case coloring and the bluing is excellent. The highly engraved action has sideclips and a hidden third fastener. Perfect for live birds and heavier volume shooting. According to the log entry for this gun from Westley Richards it was made with a single trigger for an American customer. Weighs 8lb even.   ***   Stocked in a beautiful piece of Circassian walnut with a semi-beavertail forearm and swept back Prince of Wales grip with an engraved and case colored metal pistol grip cap. Stock dimensions are 14-3/4” over a 1” leather pad by 1-3/8” by 1-3/8”. Neutral cast.   ***   The 29” nitro steel barrels are chambered and proofed for 2-3/4” cartridges and are topped with a solid raised hand cross-hatched rib. The left barrel has a diameter of 0.729 with a constriction of 0.019 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. The right barrel also has a diameter of 0.729 with a constriction of 0.040 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.031.   ***   This pigeon gun has two unique features. The choke in the Left barrel is more open than the right and the non-selective Miller single trigger fires the Left barrel first. This is purposely done as the recoil from firing the Left barrel on a side-by-side tends to keep the stock on the cheek of a right hand shot allowing for a quicker and more accurate second shot. In the pigeon ring every advantage counts!   ***   The gun is cased in an excellent condition Brady canvas & leather case with full accessories. This includes a mahogany cleaning rod with attachments, horn striker bottle, snap caps, oil bottle, and horn striker block. It also comes with the following: a Westley Richards Authentication Certificate, a brief letter from Westley Richards detailing the gun’s history, and a copy of the Westley Richard’s log book showing it’s build specifications. In addition, there are two current catalogs.   ***   This gun was made as a pigeon gun but is also ideal for clays, dove shooting, and driven shooting. Sidelock Westley’s are somewhat rare and what a gun it is! Don’t let it get away.  ***   This is a modern firearm and I will need a copy of your dealer’s FFL. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance and related charges. I give a three-day non-firing inspection and will only accept returns if gun is not as described.   ***   See this great gun and other fine doubles in the MacNab booth at The Vintage Gunners Cup at Hopkins Game Farm in Kennedyville, Maryland September 22 - 24, 2017.
