Description: Fox AE 20 Gauge Side by Side #4 WEIGHT BARRELS, SINGLE TRIGGER, ENGLISH STOCK General Specs: Fox, Year 1924, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 13oz, SxS Serial Number: 202265 Many gun lovers reading this ad regularly scour the internet for deals on Fox shotguns. One thing is for certain; the availability of graded 20ga. Fox guns has dwindled to nearly zero. Shooter/collectors have recognized that the Fox 16ga. and 20ga. guns are the most well balanced, lightest weight, best handling guns of all the vintage American doubles. In addition, it is generally known that they have the simplest, most reliable actions as well. This little Philly Fox, sn202265 produced in 1924, is an awesome find. First, they only made about 2400 A Grade 20ga. Fox guns, less than 1200 with ejectors, and only a few hundred with the Fox/Kautzky single selective trigger. IF YOU ARE A SINGLE TRIGGER GUY YOU KNOW THIS IS A RARE GUN. As can be seen on the trigger plate, it was originally a Fox/Kautzky SST, but now has the Miller SST. Most single trigger guys recognize that Miller was the best SST ever made, so this is a benefit to the shooter. The 28” #4 weight barrels choked IC/M have 2 ¾” chambers with lengthened forcing cones (softer recoil and better patterns as a result) and mirror bores, are tight on hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. The mechanics are perfect, with super-strong ejectors, very crisp trigger pulls set at 3.5lbs. and 3.75lbs. right and left respectively, excellent screws, sound safety…the gun is in great shape. What we have here is the perfect upland Fox small bore with desirable upgrades already performed, ready for decades of fine work in the field or chasing clay targets. At 5lbs. 13oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin it is a delight to handle, and with 60% factory original case color and 98% factory blue on the barrels she is pleasing to the eye as well. As you note stock dimensions, keep in mind the rear position single trigger. If it were a two trigger gun the LOP would be 14 3/8”. If you need more LOP we can get it done with a vintage pad. If you like English stocks, SST, and Fox 20ga. ejector guns, this one is priced to sell, so don’t miss out on your new bird gun! Thanks for looking.
