Description:
This is a very high quality hammer pigeon gun from a relatively unknown English maker with a London address. It has 30” barrels and nicely figured wood along with Best scroll engraving. Particularly attractive are the beautifully sculpted and engraved hammers. Weighing 7lb 1oz it is wonderfully balanced.   ***   The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are crafted from highly figured walnut and the forearm has a shell pattern finial at the tip, a nice touch that gives an obvious clue to the overall quality of the gun. The forearm utilizes a wedge fastener. Stock dimensions are 1-1/2” by 2-1/2” by 15” including a 1” leather pad. Cast off for the right hand shot.   ***   The 30” extractor barrels are nitro proofed for 2-3/4” cartridges. The steel barrels appear to be original and carry a Birmingham proof mark. There is a reproof mark which indicates that the barrels were reproofed for 850 BAR sometime after 1989. They are topped by a wide concave rib which is inscribed “W. Williamson 16 Sand Street London”. The right barrel is bored 0.728 with a constriction of 0.008 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. The left barrel is bored 0.733 and has a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke making this a great gun for clays or upland birds. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.   Isn't it time to reward yourself?   ***   Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing.  ***   See this fine gun and other great doubles in The MacNab booth at the Southern Side-by-Side Classic at Deep River Sporting Clays in Sanford, NC April 27th – 29th, 2018
