The Aston was a large bore horse pistol that was used during the Mexican American War and American Civil War. This example used the original design of the Aston, with hand-wrought components. It comes complete with a captive swivel ramrod, just like the original. The top of the barrel is marked “H. ASTON. 58 CAL. MIDDLN CT. 1850”. The overall condition is very good. The metal parts all have an aged patina. The markings are clear and legible. The bore is a bit rough. The action is strong and has no half-cock. Own the original!
