It was used on British naval ships in order to board other vessels, repel boarders, and in case of mutiny. It is a large pistol, capable of being used as a bludgeon when the single shot is expended. This example bears a lock marked “TOWER” and “Crown/GB” for Great Britain. The left side of the barrel is double stamped “V/P”. This example is in fine condition. The metal surfaces are fairly bright with a light patina coming on. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is very good, smooth with little handling marks. The bore is smooth and clean.
