Description:
The Colt Detective Special Pre-War (First Issue) was made from 1927 to 1946. The 6-shot revolvers were fitted with a 2 inch barrel, checkered wood grips, blue or nickel finished, and chambered in .38 Special. This 1938 vintage Detective Special is as described and is blue finished. It is in very fine original condition, retaining 90-95% of its original blue finish, with thinning at the muzzle, forward sharp edges of the cylinder and sharp edges on the frame, due to holster wear. The checkered wood grips with silver Colt medallions retain most all of their original finish, with minimal wear and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, and the action functions perfectly, and has a very tight lock-up. Includes factory letter stating gun was shipped to J.D.
