Description:
A.H. Philly Fox Sterlingworth "Pin Gun" Model 1911:  refurbished - great wood
Presented for sale is my fine 12 GA Sterlingworth Pin Gun - a great upgraded example of the fine materials and workmanship that Fox used in this early era.
Fox collectors call this the "Pin Gun" after the recessed hinge pinhead similar to that on Parker Guns. Produced for only for two years, it's an uncommon gun that modern owners like to upgrade. This Sterlingworth Model 1911 was built in 1912 with sn54263, and has the same high quality production as the premium Fox grades. It uses the solid Kremer & Fox patented forearm spring-snap lock that prevents the action from loosening: keeping the action tight through many years of use.
I originally purchased with the intention of an expert refurbishing. The butt-stock  & forearm & are well restocked to nice dimensions from one selected blank of figured & marbled walnut that shows a great understated beauty. The action and Full/Full bores have been kept at factory original, with the action showing nice residual case coloring & engraving for a gun of this era. Checkering is well done, crisp; and all numbers match.
This shotgun is in very good mechanical condition. The action locks up tight & on-face, and the triggers are crisp. The 30" barrels have been professionally re-blacked and have excellent bores. The chambers have been lengthened to 2 ¾" & the forcing cones elongated. Cast is neutral with dimensions made to fit the modern shooter.
The gun is well balanced, and I like it's handling for shooting both in field and at clays. The Full/Full factory choking allows you the metal to have the gun chokes opened to your preferred shooting needs.
My $1600.00 gun price is well below my costs for the original gun and refurbishing. I am selling at great value for a prompt sale.
Standard non-shooting 3-day inspection applies, but if returned the returnee would pay shipping back to my FFL. The pictures I provide are very detailed to show the gun's true condition and if you have questions, please ask.
The gun will ship insured to a lower 48 FFL for an additional $60 buyer cost or $1660.00 total. If you would like an included good-condition case(SKB felt-lined breakdown doublegun style), I will FFL ship the gun in the SKB case for a total cost to you of $1700.00. I will accept personal check, certified funds or money order: but the gun will not ship until the funds have cleared.
