Cylinder and loading lever are etched. The rest of the gun is engraved. These etched guns were made for donations to the “Sanitary Fairs” during the Civil War. Sanitary Fairs were community fund raising events for hospitalized Union soldiers. Etched scene depicts two opposing caped horsemen firing pistols at each other in woodland setting. Gun is sharp with very good engraving and 100% cylinder scene. Gun has no finish. Case includes a fine eagle and stars flask, a mold, nipple wrench, and cap can. Case made at a later period and is an excellent and faithful effort to copy an original case. This is a rare gun as only a few guns were made for Sanitary Fairs. SOLD Antique: Yes |
