This is the second gun I obtained from Mauro Marocchi's private collection (see Marocchi
Contrast Skeet listing below.
This is the ideal Trap gun: 30" barrels; both bores are .729" choked at .014 under and
.039 over. Weight: 8lbs. 3 oz. Perfect balance and smooth swing. LOP 14 1/2". Palm
swell in pistol grip. In the case as shipped from the factory.
The Marocchi Contrast action features the lockup located between the two chambers
instead of the usual double underlocking lugs, resulting in a much shallower action,
providing better balance and the smoothness of handling that we all seek. As
important, explained in Michael McIntosh's BEST GUNS, pp. 234ff., is the use of
coil springs and their location within the action instead of leaf springs on the trigger
plate, sometimes breaking and causing the entire mechanism to eject when the
action is opened. There is no need to carry a spare trigger set with a Marocchi
contrast.
