Description:
The instant I put a friend's Marocchi Contrast gun to my shoulder I knew I had to have one.
The balance, smoothness of mounting and trigger pull were perfect.  I looked everywhere
for one but to no avail.  There were other Marocchi models available, but they featured the
time-honored double underlug lock up that adds depth to the action.  The Contrast model
features the lockup located between the two chambers, allowing a much shallower action
and incredibly improved balance.  So we decided to take a trip to Italy. I was picked up
at our hotel by Mauro Marocchi and  taken to the factory where I spent the day seeing the
manufacturing process, and following lunch where Mauro insisted I try a horsemeat dish
(very good!) we dealt with my issue.

An important feature of this particular model of Marocchi is the shallow action, with the
lockup occuring  between the barrels rather than below.

This is a very rare Marocchi Contrast "Snipe" model in 20ga with 27"
barrels that I had equipped with 7 Briley shokes: Cyl.; Skeet;  IC (2),
Lt. Mod; Mod; Full.  It has very attractive figure in its 14 3/8" stock.
The weight is 6 lbs 13 oz.. Overall condition is Excellent.  A fast handling,
all-purpose 20 ga.  Cased in factory case.  Stock dimensions: 1 1/2 x 2 1/4
x 14 1/2" over single trigger.  Note figure.

The Contrast design, as explained by Michael McIntosh
in his BEST GUNS,  pp. 234ff, also features coil springs for the firing pins, all
placed within the action,  instead of on the trigger plate.  Thus, they are not going
to eject accidentlly when the action is opened, as Perazzi is notorious for.  All
this at a fraction of Perazzi's price.

This happens to be the only 20ga. Marocchi Contrast in existence,  and, since the
Snipe model, with features as mechanical trigger and extra engraving, makes it all
the more desirable.  And, since the contrast model went out of production (too costly)
several years ago, this is a bargain at the price.
