Description:
SALE PENDING! This is a scarce Colt C-Series Dragoon Revolver in unfired condition in its original factory box.  The C-Series were the best of the 2nd Generation Colts as they were built and finished in the Colt Factory by Colt workmen for just 2-3 years in contrast to the later series of the 2nd and 3rd Generation which were made by contractors at Iver and Johnson.   Colt was so proud of this 3rd Model Dragoon that they put it on the cover of their 1974 Catalog.  The serial numbered were continued right where the original Dragoon series left off in 1860 in the low 20,000 ranges just prior to the Civil War.  This particular example was one of the last ones built in the 24,000 range and dates to 1977 according to the Colt . Its my understanding that approximately 3,800 C-Series Dragoons were built. Just like the original, its in .44 Caliber Percussion with a 7.5" half octagon barrel.  The cylinder has the correct roll engraved Indian Fight scene in incredible detail.  The barrel and cylinder are finished in high lustre Colt blue while the frame and loading lever were case colored with bone charcoal. This is a nearly lost art and what you'll find on this gun is as good as it gets. The grips are made from Quarter Sawn American Black Walnut with the proper grain angles running parallel to the gripstraps...just like the original percussion Colts from the 19th century.  All major parts are numbered down to the loading lever like the originals. See Photos. Original C-Series Brown box with end label marked Model C-1770 denoting the C-Series and numbered to the serial number of the gun.  At 40 years old, it is getting a little worn on the edges and there is no manual...however, these do turn up on ebay.  This is hands down, the best reproduction 3rd Model Dragoon ever made and best of all, it's a COLT!
